L'Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights e altre Ong con sede in Bulgaria, Repubblica Ceca, Ungheria e Slovenia hanno scritto un report dal titolo "Respinti alla porta: divieto di ingresso ai richiedenti asilo negli stati membri UE dell'Est," basato su osservazioni dirette dell'accesso alle procedure di asilo ai confini dei paesi membri UE dell'Europa Centrale ed Orientale. Il rapporto, redatto nell'ultimo anno, presenta un quadro estremamente preoccupante della regione, che ha risposto alla più grande crisi umanitaria dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale chiudendo i suoi confini.
