A gennaio il tribunale di Overijssel ha condannato due uomini di Zaandam e Leeuwarden a 30 e 18 mesi di carcere per traffico di rifugiati siriani. Con furgoni presi in affitto hanno guidato dall'Italia, attraversato la Francia e sono arrivati in Olanda. I rifugiati sono stati scaricati vicino al centro di accoglienza di Ter Apel. Avevano pagato una cifra considerevole per il loro viaggio in Olanda. I trafficanti hanno sfruttato la situazione di vulnerabilità dei rifugiati a proprio vantaggio, contribuendo a mantenere in vita un circuito illegale.
