La Commissione Europea ha avviato di recente un'indagine sul rifiuto della Lituania di trasmettere due video sui temi LGBTI sostenendo la volontà di proteggere gli interessi dei minori. Secondo la Lega Gay Lituana (LGL), il divieto viola la Direttiva sui Servizi Mediatici Audiovisivi, che, se da un lato contiene l'obbligo di proteggere i minori da informazioni dannose, prevede anche che qualunque misura in questo senso sia bilanciata con la libertà di espressione. Secondo LGL, i video cercano di confutare gli stereotipi prevalenti contro le persone LGBT e per questo il divieto era illegale.
