Mercoledì 31 maggio il capo dell'ufficio anti-frode dell'UE ha dichiarato che ci sono "troppe" accuse di cattiva condotta contro il Parlamento Europeo. Giovanni Kessler ha suggerito che è ora che il Parlamento valuti le sue regole interne, in quanto potrebbero esserci "problemi strutturali" dietro alla questione. Ha aggiunto che il suo ufficio, conosciuto come OLAF, negli ultimi mesi è stato "invaso" da accuse e a fine aprile erano in corso 47 indagini riguardanti lo staff delle istituzioni UE.
