Il 3 febbraio la Camera dei Rappresentanti Olandese ha nominato Reinier van Zutphen nuovo ombudsman nazionale, il quale subentra ad Alex Brenninkmeijer, che ha lasciato il suo posto tredici mesi fa. Van Zutphen ha una lunga esperienza come giudice ad Utrecht, L'Aia, Almelo, Lussemburgo, Amsterdam, Curaçao e Alkmaar. Tra le altre cose, è stato anche presidente dell'Associazione Olandese della Magistratura. Dal 2012 Van Zutphen è presidente del Tribunale Amministrativo Olandese del Commercio e dell'Industria.
