Il Ministro della Difesa austriaco Hans Peter Doskozil ha annunciato che il governo è pronto a inviare truppe e carri armati alla frontiera del Brennero per impedire ai migranti di entrare in Austria. Ha dichiarato che quattro carri armati sono già stati dispiegati nella regione Tyrol e 750 militari sono sul posto. In risposta, il ministro degli esteri italiano fa sapere di aver convocato l'ambasciatore austriaco per discutere della situazione. L'Austria effettua controlli ai confini con Ungheria e Slovenia, mentre altrove aderisce al sistema di apertura delle frontiere previsto da Schengen.
