Nella richiesta, presentata dal Centro Europeo no-profit per i Diritti Costituzionali e Umani, si legge che Gina Haspel avrebbe autorizzato il waterboarding dei prigionieri di un centro di detenzione americano in Tailandia. Mercoledì la procura federale tedesca ha confermato di aver ricevuto la richiesta e ha dichiarato che la sta esaminando.
