Il Garante per le Pari Opportunità ha concluso 76 indagini sulle offerte di lavoro discriminatorie nel 2015 e ne ha avviate altre 54 nel 2016. La maggioranza di queste offerte indica requisiti che spesso avvantaggiano un genere, età o apparenza, indirizzandosi per esempio più spesso alle donne nel settore dei servizi. Alcune pubblicità si rivolgono esclusivamente ad un genere - un'impresa potrebbe essere alla ricerca di un "giovane di talento, brillante e intelligente." Per ridurre il numero di annunci di questo tipo, il Garante ha emanato delle linee guida sulle offerte di lavoro.
