In nome del Parlamento Olandese, il presidente del Senato, Ankie Broekers-Knol e il presidente della Camera dei Rappresentanti, Anouchka van Miltenburg, il 4 maggio hanno posto una corona di fiori sul Monumento in Memoria ai Caduti dell'Aja. Sul monumento sono scritti i nomi dei soldati e dei combattenti della resistenza caduti per il Regno d'Olanda durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Nel 98% dei Comuni olandesi è stata organizzata una commemorazione e centinaia di treni si sono fermati alle 20 per i consueti due minuti di silenzio.
