Cem Özdemir, forte sostenitore della risoluzione approvata il 2 giugno, è stato anche uno dei primi a ricevere le minacce. Il presidente turco Erdoğan ha aspramente criticato i parlamentari di origini turche, affermando che "il loro sangue è impuro" e paragonandoli a terroristi separatisti. Il Ministro degli Esteri tedesco ha consigliato loro di non andare in Turchia per non compromettere la propria sicurezza.
