L'edizione di quest'anno di Eurovision in Austria ha scatenato un nuovo putiferio in Lituania sul tema dei diritti LGBT. L'Indipendent ha sottolineato che mentre il rappresentante della Russia ha cantato di pace, i Lituani si sono baciati sul palco con persone dello stesso sesso. Non ci sono dubbi sulle buone intenzioni degli artisti, ma la situazione è ironica: la Russia, dopo l'annessione della Crimea e il conflitto nell'Ucraina orientale, invia un messaggio di pace, mentre la Lituania, che ha sette disegni di legge omofobici pendenti in Parlamento, invita a sostenere la comunità LGBT.
