"Sono convinta che gli stranieri che risiedono da tempo in un particolare stato dovrebbero avere il diritto di partecipare alla vita politica. La maggior parte dei paesi europei, compresa la Repubblica Ceca, negano ancora tale diritto," ha dichiarato l'Ombudsman ceco Anna Šabatová. A suo parere il coinvolgimento degli stranieri nel processo decisionale incoraggerebbe il dialogo. Circa 450,000 stranieri risiedono legalmente nella Repubblica Ceca e più della metà in maniera permanente. Gli stranieri comunitari possono già votare alle elezioni amministrative.
