Gli abitanti di Roma e le associazioni della società civile sono stati invitati ad esprimere il loro sostegno alle vittime della sparatoria di Orlando in occasione di un sit-in di fronte all'Ambasciata Americana mercoledì 15 giugno. Patrizio Gonnella, presidente di CILD, che ha organizzato l'evento, ha dichiarato che l'obiettivo è quello di "inviare un segnale di solidarietà e di vicinanza alla comunità LGBTI oltre che ribadire che la battaglia contro l'omofobia e per i diritti umani di tutti non si fermerà."
