In occasione della giornata europea per l'uguaglianza delle persone disabili, varie ONG sottolineano le gravi lacune che si riscontrano in Germania. Nel 2015, le Nazioni Unite avevano criticato il fatto che pochissime persone disabili frequentassero le scuole ordinarie e che ci fossero molte barriere architettoniche. Le ONG chiedono una legge inclusiva che sia focalizzata sull'auto-determinazione, sulla partecipazione e sull'inclusione dei disabili, nello spirito della CRPD dell'ONU. La legge è stata discussa e dovrebbe entrare in vigore all'inizio del 2017.
