Dieciséis estudiantes de la Institución de Educación Superior de la Provincia de Lieja a quienes se les prohibió llevar cualquier tipo de ropa que exprese una "afiliación filosófica, religiosa o política" apelaron la sentencia ante un tribunal de Bruselas. El tribunal ha anulado la sentencia pues viola la libertad de religión y ha señalado que una prohibición general constituye una medida desproporcionada para lograr el objetivo que se persigue.
