A pesar del interés general que despierta el polémico proyecto de ley polaco sobre el Holocausto, la canciller alemana Angela Merkel declinó hacer comentarios al respecto cuando se le preguntó el sábado 10 de febrero. La ley impone penas de cárcel de hasta tres años por sugerir que el país fue cómplice en el Holocausto. Merkel dijo que no quería inmiscuirse en los asuntos domésticos de Polonia, y añadió: "Nosotros los alemanes somos responsables de lo que ocurrió durante el Holocausto, la Shoa, en los años del nacionalsocialismo".
