Le gouvernement polonais a été officiellement averti par l'UE pour son contrôle sur le Tribunal Constitutionnel, dont l'indépendance est menacée. La Commission européenne a annoncé sa décision de renforcer la pression afin que la Pologne s'aligne sur les principes démocratiques de l'UE. Depuis le lancement de la procédure de sauvegarde de l'État de droit en janvier dernier, les nombreuses rencontres n'ont pas apporté d'améliorations, amenant la CE à adopter un avis juridique. La procédure pourrait entraîner la suspension des droits de vote de la Pologne en tant que pays membre.
