Un journaliste polonais a envoyé des questions à une entreprise pour un commentaire pour un article. La société a trouvé le contenu des questions nuisibles à sa réputation et a déposé une plainte pénale pour diffamation, même si l'article n'a pas été publié. Le tribunal ne voit rien de mal dans ce cas et a l'a rejeté. "Si le journaliste a été reconnu coupable, cela constituerait un dangereux précédent qui pourrait conduire à un effet de refroidissement", a déclaré Dorota Głowacka, de l'Observatoire de la liberté des médias en Pologne à la Fondation Helsinki pour les droits de l'homme.
