Suite à un rapport commandé par le gouvernement, le cannabis à usage médical pourra être prescrit aux patients souffrant de certaines maladies en Irlande. Les patients atteints de multiples scléroses, d'épilepsie aigüe ou subissant une chimiothérapie pourront y avoir accès une fois la proposition approuvée. Le gouvernement leur donnera peut-être le feu vert et ce malgré les rapports prévenant de "l'absence de données scientifiques démontrant l'efficacité des produits du cannabis" et avertissant sur "l'insuffisance d'informations relatives à la sécurité pour un usage à long-terme".
