Antonio Tajani, ancien commissionnaire européen et porte-parole de B. Berlusconi, a été élu ce mardi à la tête du Parlement européen. L'homme politique conservateur a été élu au terme du quatrième tour du vote et a battu le candidat socialiste Gianni Pitella. Il remplacera Martin Schulz, qui a occupé le poste de président du PE pendant cinq ans. Le PPE (Parti Populaire européen) et l'ALDE (libéraux) se sont unis pour assurer son élection, promettant d'endiguer l'influence des populistes. Avec M. Tajani, le centre-droite est désormais à la tête des trois principales institutions européennes.
