Mardi dernier, la chef de la police bruxelloise a été frappé à la tête par un manifestant lors d'une manifestation contre l'austérité qui avait rassemblé 60 000 personnes dans la capitale. Pierre Vandersmissen, qui a passé la nuit à l'hôpital était en train d'utiliser du gaz poivré contre des manifestants lorsqu'il a été assommé. Vandersmissen est un personnage controversé, une page Facebook avait été créée pour réclamer sa démission après qu'il avait ordonné l'arrestation de manifestants anti-fascistes, dont le président de la Ligue des droits de l'homme belge, Alexis Deswaef.
