The Swedish Patent and Market Court of Appeal has ordered torrent site The Pirate Bay to be blocked by internet service provider Bredbandsbolaget for the next three years. In 2014, several film studios teamed up to force the ISP to block the torrent site. The court case also concluded that internet providers should be blocked if they refused to block copyright-infringing websites. Now the patent court has overruled the district court and ordered providers to apply technology that stops users from accessing the site. The decision claims the blocking is proportionate under EU law.
