European policing agency Europol has agreed to investigate what is believed to be the biggest loss of a migrant boat in 2016. The decision comes after a months-long investigation by the BBC and Reuters to uncover the truth of the April 9 sinking, in which more than 500 people are believed to have drowned, although there has been no official inquiry. The media investigation was able to established that the boat set sail from Egypt instead of Libya, as the UNHCR stated at the time.
