Up to 10,000 police and soldiers are participating in the latest security operation by Hungarian authorities to keep migrants and asylum seekers out of the country. The reinforced border includes razor-wire fence across the Serbian-Hungarian border, a Schengen border of the EU. According to data by Hungary's government, there are an average of 130 people who crossed this border daily. A new law allows the Hungarian Army and police to arrest and return anyone caught inside Hungary within 8 kilometers of the fence, but in practice it seems to be applied to those caught far deeper into Hungary.
