The Lithuanian Parliament decided to drop the requirement for third country nationals wishing to start a business in the country to hire at least three Lithuanian citizens (or foreigners with residence permits) as full-time members of staff. In just one year since these exceptionally strict measures were introduced in 2014, the number of foreigners applying for residence permits to start a business dropped from 4278 to 888. That being said, the president still returned the bill to Parliament for correction, but the requirement to employ at least three people is gone for good.
