Od 15 listopada 2017 r. Królestwo Danii będzie przez kolejne sześć miesięcy przewodniczyć Komitetowi Ministrów Rady Europy. Jednym z głównych priorytetów Danii będzie interpretacja Konwencji Europejskiej. Niektórzy obawiają się, że zyskają na tym państwa członkowskie, które chcą korzystać ze swojej suwerenności bez konieczności kontroli ze strony Europejskiego Trybunału Praw Człowieka. Ponadto istnieją obawy, że zbliżające się przewodnictwo Danii, osłabi prawa migrantów w Radzie Europy.
