11 lipca litewski parlament jednomyślnie głosował za zniesieniem postępowań z oskarżenia prywatnego. Ma to dotyczyć wszystkich przestępstw, łącznie z molestowaniem seksualnym. Wcześniej ofiary musiały samodzielnie zebrać dowody i udowodnić winę oskarżonego. Od teraz wystarczy, aby ofiary zgłosiły skargę, na przykład na policję, a oficerowie przeprowadzą dochodzenie. Dla porównania, w Estonii i na Łotwie postępowania z oskarżenia prywatnego zostało zniesione w 2010 roku.
