Il 5 novembre Hossam Bahgat, giornalista e fondatore dell'Iniziativa Egiziana per i Diritti Umani, è stato convocato dall'Intelligence Militare. Le accuse rappresentano un ulteriore tentativo delle autorità egiziane di reprimere la libertà di espressione dei media indipendenti - pietra miliare di ogni società libera. Hossam Bahgat, con altre accuse a carico, è stato rilasciato il 10 novembre dopo che i membri della Rete Internazionale delle Organizzazioni per le Libertà Civili (INCLO) hanno chiesto ai rispettivi governi di usare la loro influenza sulle autorità egiziane per il suo rilascio.
