Il 7 febbraio il commissario UE per la giustizia Vera Jourova ha detto ai membri del Parlamento Europeo che la Romania sta vivendo un 'momento cruciale', per via del dibattito parlamentare sulle due controverse leggi sulla giustizia, entrambe giudicate incostituzionali. Le modifiche sono state approvate a dicembre e sono al momento in fase di esame della corte suprema rumena, che le ha già giudicate in parte incostituzionali. "Si tratta di un momento cruciale adesso che i due disegni di legge sono tornati in parlamento dopo le sentenze della corte costituzionale", ha dichiarato la Jourova.
