L'Agenzia di frontiera dell'UE Frontex sta intensificando la raccolta di informazioni sui migranti salvati nel Mediterraneo per provare a identificare sospetti terroristi e criminali. Il 1 febbraio Frontex ha lanciato la missione Themis, volta, tra l'altro, a raccogliere più informazioni e a "realizzare altre misure per individuare i foreign fighters e altre minacce terroristiche ai confini esterni", ha dichiarato un portavoce di Frontex. La zona operativa della missione Themis è il Mediterraneo Centrale, comprese le aree circostanti Algeria, Tunisia, Libia, Egitto, Turchia e Albania.
