La Corte di Cassazione ha respinto il ricorso di due agenti condannati per aver pestato un detenuto che si era convertito all'Islam. Gli agenti avevano ricevuto in primo grado una condanna a 2 anni e 8 mesi e a 5,000 euro di multa per le violenze avvenute nel carcere di Asti nel 2010, ma la corte di appello aveva poi ridotto la pena a 1 anno ciascuno. La sentenza della Cassazione, emessa a inizio mese, è definitiva.
Il caso è stato valutato anche dal Comitato ONU contro la Tortura nel redigere il rapporto sul paese.
