La Corte Suprema Spagnola ha confermato la condanna ad un anno di carcere per 5 giovani che hanno interrotto una messa nel febbraio 2014 per protestare contro la riforma della legge sull'aborto. Sono stati giudicati colpevoli di violazione della libertà religiosa. Secondo il tribunale, l'obiettivo degli imputati era "evidentemente di impedire una funzione religiosa" e l'esercizio della libertà di esprimere le proprie opinioni non può sopprimere il diritto di altri di partecipare liberamente alle cerimonie religiose, qualora queste si tengano in luoghi appositamente designati per il culto.
