In base al'Indice sulla Parità di Genere 2017, pubblicato dall'Istituto Europeo per la Parità di Genere, tra i 28 paesi UE la Lituania è salita dal 22° al 20° posto tra il 2012 e il 2017. Eppure, è sconcertante che, rispetto alla media europea, ci siano trend negativi in 5 aree su 6, in particolare la situazione economica, l'istruzione conseguita, il tempo dedicato alla cura dei bambini e della casa, l'influenza nel processo decisionale e il ruolo del sistema sanitario. Soltanto per quanto riguarda l'occupazione sembra che si siano fatti passi in avanti.
