Il tentativo dei parlamentari di centro-destra di tagliare i fondi UE alle ONG e di abbassare i requisiti di trasparenza per i lobbisti aziendali e del governo è fallito all'interno del Parlamento Europeo. Per l'autore della risoluzione su "trasparenza, responsabilità e integrità nelle istituzione UE" (membro del partito tedesco dei Verdi) si è provato ad indebolire la società civile e tutelare le lobby. La risoluzione, approvata con 386 voti a favore e 162 contrari, prevede codici di condotta più chiari e rigorosi per tutte le istituzioni UE e un più facile accesso ai documenti legislativi.
