Pronunciare "ACAB" ("all cops are bastards") pubblicamente non è di per sé punibile, in quanto rientra nella libertà di espressione. E' quanto ha stabilito la Corte Costituzionale Federale in due casi riguardanti tifosi di calcio che esibivano la scritta "ACAB" su dei cartelli o sui loro pantaloni. Le disposizioni sulla diffamazione, contenute nella sezione 185 del Codice Penale, possono limitare la libertà di espressione. Tuttavia, la frase deve riferirsi ad un gruppo individuabile e definito di persone. La Corte ha ritenuto che le dichiarazioni non fossero rivolte a specifici poliziotti.
