Il summit UE-Turchia non ha portato ad un accordo su come risolvere la crisi dei migranti. Durante i negoziati di Bruxelles, durati fino alla tarda notte di lunedì, il governo turco ha posto ulteriori richieste, tra le quali la possibilità per i cittadini turchi di spostarsi senza visto nell'area Schengen. I capi di stato UE hanno respinto. Un secondo tentativo avrà luogo il 17-18 marzo. L'UE vuole convincere la Turchia a realizzare il "piano d'intervento" firmato lo scorso anno, in base al quale Ankara si impegna a ridurre il numero di rifugiati in partenza per la Grecia in cambio di aiuti.
