En mars, deux jeunes hommes de Kaunas, en Lituanie, ont menacé une femme enceinte et insulté son mari, un citoyen irlandais d'origine indienne, l'exhortant à retourner dans son pays. Le tribunal de Kaunas a jugé que cet acte ne relevait que d'un trouble à l'ordre public. La Cour régionale a ensuite requalifié cet acte de crime de haine, estimant que les accusés s'étaient moqué de l'homme et l'avaient humilié en raison de son appartenance ethnique.
