Le premier ministre et leader du Parti libéral (VVD), Mark Rutte, a déclaré que toute personne n'adhérant pas aux valeurs fondamentales des Pays-Bas devrait quitte le pays. Des propos qui semblent viser plus particulièrement les migrants. Le VVD a récemment publié une publicité sur une pleine page dans un journal, avec pour message: "comportez-vous normalement ou allez-vous en!". Le parlement a vivement critiqué la pub. Rutte est quant à lui accusé d'utilisé des méthodes populistes afin de reprendre des voix au parti d'extrême droite (PVV), dirigé par Geert Wilders.
