En solo cinco años, según las cifras gubernamentales obtenidas por el Partido Laborista, el número de proveedores de asistencia jurídica gratuita en Inglaterra y Gales ha caído un 20%, privando a cientos de miles de personas de un servicio imprescindible. La caída ha afectado a todas las regiones del país, con una caída mayor en Gales, del 29%. Los dirigentes sindicales han señalado rápidamente que el gobierno no ha seguido debatiendo la prometida revisión de la asistencia jurídica gratuita a pesar de que en febrero se comprometió a exponer en unos meses los detalles y avances en este sentido.
