Para conmemorar el Día Mundial de los Refugiados, unas cuarenta ONG –incluidas Amnistía Internacional y el Consejo Central de Musulmanes alemán– anunciaron su participación en cadenas humanas en cinco grandes ciudades bajo el lema "Mano con mano contra el racismo". El 18 y 19 de junio, miles de personas conectaron mediante cadenas humanas centros religiosos y comunitarios, albergues de refugiados, centros culturales y ayuntamientos en Berlín, Bochum, Hamburgo, Leipzig y Múnich, con el fin de lanzar un mensaje contundente a favor de una Alemania cosmopolita y diversa.
