A law approved in 2014 calls for Italy's six judicial psychiatric hospitals to be closed before March 31, 2015, and turned into several small healthcare facilities. But the bill has not been followed and these facilities have not been closed down. The Italian NGO L'altro Diritto recently helped 58 people detained in the Tuscan judicial psychiatric hospital bring a complaint against their illegal detention.
