An Austrian ex-policeman has won a long battle at the European Court of Justice (ECJ). The court's ruling states that Austria must compensate him for his sacking in 1976 for sexual indecency with minors, which led to him losing 25% of his police pension. He committed the offence with two boys aged 14 and 15 and he was given a three-month suspended jail term. The age of consent was 18 for male homosexuals at the time. The ECJ did not challenge that penalty, but said he was owed his lost pension, going back to December 2003.
