The personal data of hundreds of German politicians, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, has been published online. Contacts, private chats and financial details were released on Twitter over the holiday period, though authorities are still trying to determine who was responsible for the hack. Also targeted were celebrates from outside of politics, including comedian Jan Böhmermann, who has garnered attention for satirizing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Although the data attack hit politicians across the political spectrum, no member of the far-right AfD party was targeted.
