Following the migration pact, the UN General Assembly is set to endorse the Global Compact on Refugees. The aim of the accord is to balance the burden and responsibilities in dealing with refugees, especially in countries like Uganda, Lebanon, Iran or Jordan, and to empower refugees through better access to education, jobs and the health system. The refugee compact is based on existing, international law but is not legally binding. Each state determines for itself to what extent it participates in achieving the jointly formulated goals. Hungary is the only European country to reject the pact.
