Liberties joins the open letter, delivered today in Strasbourg, of over 100 civil society organizations, start-ups, publishers, creators, educators and librarians calling on members of the European Parliament to hold a proper debate on the Copyright Directive. The version passed by the JURI Committee and set to be voted on this Wednesday poses a threat to citizens' online free speech by introducing unnecessary and harmful censorship of the internet. Liberties is hopeful that MEPs will reconsider the directive and pass a final version that includes critical safeguards for free speech.
