The director of Sapo, Sweden's security service, has said that in the wake of the April 2017 terror attack, the country is not just dealing with an increased threat of terrorism, but also the impact of disinformation and fake news. Anders Thornberg warned that 2018 may be even more busy for the security service as Sweden is preparing for general elections in September. Sapo's director also said that while a few years ago the service was worried about 200 Islamists, it now has 3,000 on its radar, all of whom need to be evaluated.
