An investigation into the finances of the extreme-right Golden Dawn party, carried out by a group of lawyers, has revealed that it behaved like a criminal organization even before it entered the Greek Parliament, and that its behavior was tolerated by authorities. According to the lawyers, the party has financed itself by running protection rackets, blackmailing shop owners, selling weaponry used by its "battalion squads" and by providing other services to businessmen.
