A survey of more than 3,700 lesbian, gay, bi and trans young people in the UK has revealed that 8 in 10 of them have inflicted self-harm and almost half have attempted suicide. The findings underscore that while LGBT bullying has decreased in the last five years, its impact on the wellbeing and education of young people remains significant. The study, conducted by the charity Stonewall, reveals that among young trans pupils, one in 10 (9 percent) have received death threats at school, 84 percent say they have self-harmed, and 45 percent have tried to take their own lives.
