"In a democracy, everyone must acknowledge parliamentary majorities," EU commissioner Johannes Hahn said after meeting Macedonia’s leaders. Attempts end a political crisis in the Balkans country that unfolded after elections in December have so far failed. The EU called on Macedonia not to play with fire with ethnic hate speech against Albanian minorities. The ruling party, VMRO-DPMNE, in power for a decade now, received the most parliamentary seats but failed to get a majority. Opposition party SDSM formed a coalition with Albanian parties on the condition to make their language official.
