The Dutch Democratic Party (D66), Labour Party (PvdA) and Green Party (GroenLinks) have proposed a bill in which the rights of sexual minorities, like transgenders and intersexuals, would be better protected. The bill was presented earlier this month, on the day of the annual Canal Parade, part of Amsterdam Gay pride. According to the parties, sexual minorities still experience difficulty "fitting in" and should have legal protection to be able to fully express themselves. To make this possible, the General Equal Treatment Act should be modified to include concepts such as gender identity.
